Self-Care During Quarantine

5 Creative Self-Care Ideas

How are you finding yourself these days? Are you at home with kids helping them figure out school-at-home and soaking up the extra time with them while trying to stay sane? Are you suddenly without a paycheck? Are you an essential worker who is grateful to still be working but stressed about potential exposure?  Are you a small business owner trying to navigate social distancing while still servicing your customers?

Whatever your situation during this COVID-19 crisis, it is important to take extra care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup, as they say. There are people depending on you in whatever capacity. It is important to take care of yourself so that you can take care of others.

Self-care does not look the same for everyone. And I’m pretty sure that you have the basics of self-care covered. You know to eat well, get good sleep, and drink plenty of water.

What I wanted to share with you today are some creative ideas to help break up these days that can start feeling like we are on repeat.

Below are 5 unique ways that you can pause, take a deep breath, and change it up just enough to feel refreshed and renewed.

1. Take a 20 Minute Yoga Class

Yoga has so many wonderful and stress-reducing benefits. Here is one I love – a 20 Minute Yoga Class for Beginners. You might even get your kids to join you!

2. Date Night

Have an older kid watch the other kids while you have a date night with your spouse.

Or, transform your house into a “restaurant.” Let the kids be the waiters and serve you on your date.  Don’t forget to take some pictures and share with family and friends.

3. A Walk

Studies have shown that even a 10-minute walk can boost your brain chemistry and make you feel happier.  Make it your own by listening to your favorite playlist or podcast.  If you’re missing the social interaction, look for neighbors on your walk to wave to and smile at.

4. Staycation

Try creating a mini-vacation.  Transform one room into a beach oasis with ocean sounds and beach blankets. Pitch a tent in the backyard. Or perhaps light a fire in the fireplace, make some hot cocoa, and pull out your favorite sweater. Viola! You are transported to a mountain ski lodge! Get creative and have some fun with this one.  I’d love to see some pictures of your Staycation Transformations.

5. Take a Trip

Of course, we are not able to actually take a trip. But this is a pretty decent alternative. Check out this awesome link to the National Parks Service. Choose from 5 awesome destinations (or go to them all!). It might be just the virtual nature break that you didn’t even realize you needed.

I’m here for you. If I can assist you in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Stay Tuned

I have a few events coming up that I would love for you to be a part of including a Virtual Wine, Women, & Wealth event as well as a Virtual Money 101 event. Stay tuned for details!
